Bhubaneswar: On September 5, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) will hold a'mishran parba' (joining ceremony) to officially welcome a number of notable individuals, including former chief minister Giridhar Gamang, former members of parliament Hema Gamang and Jayaram Pangi, and former Indian hockey captain Prabodh Tirkey.

According to OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak, the joining ceremony will take place in front of national officials, and a rally is also scheduled for this special occasion.

According to sources, Tirkey, a former hockey star, has expressed a desire to run for office from the Talsara Assembly constituency to represent the locals.

Veteran tribal leader Giridhar Gamang was expected to rejoin Congress by the end of this month, more than six months after they joined Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Hyderabad. Recently, his son Sishir met with Congressman A Chellakumar, who was in charge of Odisha, in New Delhi.

Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Odisha in September, AICC president Pattanayak said, and the dates will be set soon.

In October, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are most likely to visit the state.
