Centre Sanctions Over Rs 587 Crore For Jharsuguda Bypass Road In Odisha

Jharsuguda: The proposed bypass road in Jharsuguda, Odisha, has received approval from the Central government with a budget of Rs 587.10 crore.

Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted on Monday, "The project for the construction of 31.24 km Jharsuguda Bypass on NH-49 in Odisha has been sanctioned at the total cost of Rs. 587.10 Cr."

The minister also said that an elephant underpass would be built on the Jharsuguda bypass road to ensure the safety of wildlife in the area.

The bypass route would reportedly be built on a piece that stretches from Budhipadar area all the way up to Patrapali.

The road construction survey is complete, and work will soon get underway.

Naba Kishore Das, the state's health minister and a Jharsuguda MLA, visited the building site on August 21 and instructed the relevant officials to begin the work, which is crucial to highlight here.

An average of 10,000 kilometres of new national highways have been built nationwide over the past three years.
