ED arrests Archana Nag’s hubby Jagabandhu under PMLA

Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Archana Nag's husband, Jagabandhu Chand, on money laundering accusations on Friday.

It had already arrested Archana and their associate Khageswar Patra in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act investigation (PMLA).

The ED is likely to remand Jagabandhu for the second time for questioning. The agency reportedly interviewed Archana, Jagabandhu, and her associate Shraddhanjali Behera face to face a few days ago and got critical information. While Archana refused to cooperate, the sleuths claimed that Shraddhanjali was more cooperative.

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police initially detained the pair on the basis of a complaint lodged by Shraddhanjali at the Khandagiri police station. They are suspected of blackmailing powerful people while operating a prostitution ring.

The ED is investigating the proceeds of crime.

Archana and her husband are accused of amassing assets worth crores of rupees over the last four years by blackmailing and honeytrapping powerful people. So far, the ED has tracked down Rs 2.5 crore deposited in their accounts between 2017 and 2022.
