Bhubaneswar: The mercury dropped to 5°C in G Udayagiri in Odisha's Kandhamal district for the fifth consecutive day on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Similiguda in Koraput had a temperature of 5.5°C, followed by Phulbani in Koraput at 7°C and Kirei in Sundargarh at 7.5°C.

With a cold wave sweeping the state, six locations reported nighttime temperatures of 10°C or lower:

G Udayagiri (Kandhamal): 5°C
Similiguda (Koraput): 5.5°C
Phulbani (Kandhamal): 7°C
Kirei (Sundargarh): 7.5°C
Daringbadi (Kandhamal): 9.5°C
Sundargarh: 10°C

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 14°C each.

According to the IMD, there will be no significant change in nighttime temperatures over the following two days, followed by a steady rise of 2 to 4°C in several parts of the state.
