Fake notes worth over Rs 14 lakh seized in Bargarh, 2 Held

Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, the STF of the Odisha Crime Branch detained two individuals, among them an interstate criminal from Uttar Pradesh, and confiscated counterfeit Indian currency worth more than Rs 14 lakh in the Bargarh district.

The STF conducted a raid on a location in Barapalli within the district with the assistance of the Bargarh district police on the basis of credible information about the racket of fake currency notes.

The STF detained two people during the raid, including 53-year-old interstate felon Pattu Yadav of Parawai under Khesrah police station in Gorakhpur area of Uttar Pradesh. He was presently residing in Burla, Sambalpur district, Sikirdi under Ketapalli police station. Balaram Meher, of Mahatompada in the Barpali police station in the Bargarh district, was named as the other suspect.

During the search, bogus Rs. 14,29,500 Indian currency notes and other incriminating items were taken from their possession. At the Baragarh police station, a case has been opened in this regard, and more research is being done.
