Nandankanan Zoo welcomes its first yellow anaconda snakelet

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) welcomed its first yellow anaconda snakelet on Wednesday morning, according to zoo administrators.

One yellow anaconda gave birth to one baby on Wednesday in Reptile Park, according to zoo officials. Ancient has given birth for the first time ever in the zoo. The infant has been kept apart so that its temperature and humidity can be monitored, as well as to keep it safe from other anacondas. For its maintenance, experts are being contacted. According to NZP officials, the mother anaconda and the other two females are being watched to see whether they produce more young.

In November 2019, the anaconda was transported from the Madras Crocodile bank trust. There are now 5 adult and sub-adult yellow anacondas in the NZP (1 male 3 female and 1 unsexed).
