Puri: On Thursday, tensions erupted in Pipili when the body of a missing youngster was discovered on railway tracks in Puri district's Nuapada.

Locals noticed the body and alerted the family, who set up a roadblock. Soumya Ranjan Jena of Matiapada village in Gobindapur near Pipili is the minor boy. He was a student of Gobindapur High School in Class X.

According to reports, the boy's relatives and townspeople set up a roadblock with the body near the Pipili toll gate on NH 316, causing traffic congestion. They then demanded that the culprits be arrested right away.

Debadutta Baral, SDPO Pipili, and IIC reached the spot and assured the family that proper action will be taken against the criminals. They also asked for the roadblock to be lifted because hundreds of commuters were stranded on both sides of the route.

The body was seized by police and taken to a morgue for an autopsy.

On March 7, Soumya went missing, prompting his maternal grandpa, Budhanath Pradhan, to submit a report with the Kausalyaganga Police Outpost.

Police had launched an investigation into Soumya's whereabouts when his body was discovered on the railway tracks in Nuapada by some residents.

His identification card was discovered in his school backpack, and his school authorities and maternal relatives were notified. They arrived at the scene and discovered the body.

The death is thought to have been caused by a love affair.
