Four missing persons from Odisha found dead in Chhattisgarh well

Bhubaneswar: The four people's automobile, which went missing on December 10 while returning to Odisha after a wedding reception in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, was discovered on Monday in an abandoned open well near the Kanker-Kondagam highway.

The four people, identified as Sapan Sarkar, his wife Itishree, brother-in-law Biswajit Adhikari, and his neighbor Hajari Dhali, are believed to have drowned after the automobile went into the well after a tyre burst.

IIC Umerkote Deepak Kumar Jena told the reporters that the remains were recovered from the automobile after it was lifted out of the well, which is around 8 kilometers from Kanker, using a crane.

It was previously assumed that they had been kidnapped. A missing persons report was also made at a police station in Chhattisgarh's Kanker, and they were still unaccounted for 36 hours after going incommunicado after returning to Odisha. They had left Kanker around 10.30 p.m. to go to a relative's house in Kondagam, Chhattisgarh, around 80 kilometers distant. They were last seen at a gas station, and after traveling 5 kilometers, their phones were discovered switched off.

Sapan worked in the Raighar tehsil office as a supervisor.
