Ganja worth Rs 20 lakh seized in Jeypore

Jeypore: Jeypore Town Police caught a car transporting marijuana worth thousands of rupees on Saturday, just hours after a Maharashtra head constable was arrested for smuggling ganja at a railway crossing in Barpali, Bargarh district.
The police intercepted one of the automobiles travelling from Malkangiri to Jeypore at Yole Dam Square after receiving a tip, but the second vehicle managed to depart the scene with the consignment.
Three Malkangiri residents were apprehended and 180 kg of ganja worth Rs 20 lakh, as well as two mobile phones, were taken from their hands. According to reports, the smugglers indicated that the shipment was being transferred to Bhubaneswar. Abishesh Behera, a sub-divisional police officer in Jeypore, felt that ganja smuggling had an inter-state connection.
