Gopalpur MLA, launched a harsh attack on BJD

Berhampur: Pradeep Panigrahy, a former party leader and Gopalpur MLA, launched a harsh attack on the BJD on Saturday, urging those close to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to stop from engaging in "dirty politics" and instead concentrate on the growth and welfare of the populace.

The three-time MLA promised reporters that he will travel the region and strive for the improvement of the populace while in his Ganjam district constituency.

He added that the people will love them if they honestly work for their benefit. He also advised those in power and close to the Chief Minister to abstain from playing dirty politics and work for the prosperity of the populace.

The former minister attacked the ruling BJD, saying that his region had been neglected while he was away. According to him, no construction has been done in the region during that time.

Naveen Patnaik, the president of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), had dismissed Panigraby from the local party on the grounds that he had engaged in "anti-people" activities.

After the anti-corruption vigilance wing discovered Panigrahy's alleged connections to suspended Indian Forest Service Officer (IFS) Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash Kumar Pathak, the party took action against him.

The father-son team had been detained on suspicion of acquiring enormous properties in a case involving disproportionate assets. Akash Pathak's son, Panigrahy, is accused of aiding him in a job scam. Pathak's son is also charged with defrauding young people in the Ganjam district by promising them work at reputable businesses.

Panigrahy was held in judicial custody at the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar following his arrest. On June 11, 2021, the Orissa High Court granted him bail in relation to the case of employment fraud.

His comeback to active politics was signalled in June of this year as he interacted with supporters around his Assembly constituency. Additionally, he had stated that he was still a member of the local party. Panigrahy had previously informed the media that "my name is at serial number 26 in the BJD list of the Odisha Legislative Assembly."
