Lanjigarh: Following the death of a female elephant in a mango orchard in Betal Khaman village of Dhepguda Beat on September 24, a troop of wild elephants has wreaked havoc in Lanjigarh block of Kesinga sub-division in Kalahandi district.

While the pachyderms patrol a 15-kilometer radius around the block, they stormed Delangbhatta hamlet in Kumkhal panchayat in the early hours of October 4 and wrecked Bhaira Majhi's house and crushed the provisions in Tanka Majhi's storage.

According to accounts, a herd of elephants damaged Umara Majhi's residence in Kuturuguda on Friday night, as well as his bathroom.

Forest department staff went to the demolition locations after receiving complaints and assessed the losses caused by the jumbos. People have expressed their apprehension about walking in the woods.
