Kalahandi: Senior assistant in Vigilance net for taking ₹60,000 bribe

Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Odisha Vigilance sleuths nabbed a senior assistant-cum-accountant of a watershed project in Kalahandi for allegedly receiving a Rs 60,000 bribe from a soil conservation worker to process his pending bills for payment release.

A team of Vigilance officials constructed a trap and nabbed senior assistant Shyam Sundar Bal while asking and taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 from the soil conservation worker, according to a Vigilance release.

He allegedly sought the money to process the pending invoices for payment release, as well as payment made previously towards the old bills.

The full bribe money has been found and seized from the defendants.

Following the trap, four locations in Bal are being searched simultaneously from a disproportionate assets aspect.

A case has been filed, and an investigation is underway against the accused.
