Cuttack: Late Saturday, a big fire broke out in a weekly haat in Niali panchayat, Niali block, in Odisha's Cuttack district.

According to sources, the fire, which occurred between 11.30 p.m. and 12.40 a.m., burned 49 improvised temporary sheds to ashes, and the traders suffered damages in the thousands of dollars.

Around 12.55 a.m., firefighters were brought in to put out the fire.

The traders claimed that the fire had been frequent for several years. They claimed that a short circuit or miscreants were to blame for the fire and urged quick action.

Pramod Behera, the husband of the local Sarpanch, stated that they would file a police report about the event.
