Mamita Murder case: BJP MLAs March From Odisha Assembly To Deliver Letter To The CM

Bhubaneswar: Opposition BJP MLAs marched from the Odisha Assembly to the office of the Chief Post Master General (CPMG) here on Monday to deliver a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in which they questioned his response in the Mamita Meher murder case and demanded answers.

The BJP MLAs stated that they were drafting the letter to the CM because he was unable to attend the House meeting. "Because we don't see him in the House, we decided to write him a letter about the Mamita Meher situation and mail it to him." Allow him to respond in the House," a BJP MP remarked.

"We're writing to expose your double standards on the matter of women's safety and security," the letter reads.

The BJP references to the Anjana Mishra rape case in the letter, reminding Naveen of how he asked then-Chief Minister JB Patnaik's resignation at the time. The BJP MLAs wrote in the letter that "women in Odisha today feel as vulnerable under the Naveen government as they did under the JB Patnaik regime."

According to the letter, Naveen claimed that during the JB Patnaik government, there was a complete collapse of law and order in the state, and women felt completely unprotected.

Why can't Naveen remove Dibya Shankar Mishra and order a CBI investigate into the Mamita Meher matter if Indrajit Ray, who was viewed as close to JB Patnaik, had to quit as the advocate general of Odisha following claims by Anjana?

"You (Naveen) interrogated JB Patnaik." For the sake of ethics and ideals, you have previously removed several ministers. What happened to those ideals now?" the letter asks, while also urging that Mishra be fired and the situation be investigated by the CBI.
