Man killed, son critical in road accident in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In the early hours of Wednesday, a father was killed and his son suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident near Basudevpur in the Bhadrak district of Odisha.

Jagata Mallick, a resident of the Balasore district's Khirakona region, has been named as the deceased. In a hospital, his son Sushant Mallick is battling for his life.

According to accounts, in the early hours of today, Jagata and his son were riding a motorcycle to Chudamani to harvest fish. Jagata operated a fishing-related business. Near Matajimath chhak in Basudevpur, the rider lost control of their two-wheeler, hit a calf on the road, which sent them into the air, where they then collided with a road roller that was parked by the side of the road. They both sustained severe wounds.

Locals saved the father and son, who were in serious condition, and transported them to Basudevpur hospital, where Jagata was pronounced "brought dead" by medical staff.

When the final reports came in, Sushant was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bhadrak since his status was listed as critical.

Local police responded to the information and arrived on the scene to begin an investigation.
