Minor boy left orphaned when parents commit suicide

Dhenkanal: In Odisha's Dhenkanal district, a small kid was orphaned after his parents allegedly committed suicide due to their inability to repay a loan.

Bisikesan Sahu of Kankadapala village, which falls under the Sadar police jurisdiction, was said to be running a tiffin kiosk in the hamlet with his wife Mama Sahu, according to sources. To manage his firm, he had taken out loans from local money lenders. However, due to business losses, he was unable to repay the loans.

The couple was discovered hanged in their home by their neighbours on Friday morning. When police were notified, they went to the village and confiscated the bodies. The bodies were submitted for a post-mortem after preliminary questioning of the neighbours, and an unnatural death case was filed.

Though the police are yet to ascertain the cause of the couple’s suicide, they suspected that the husband and wife might have resorted to the extreme step due to loan burden. They found a writing on the floor of the room, where their bodes were found, mentioning that they had taken poison. Police suspected it to be written by the couple.

Bisikesan and Mama are survived by a 14-year-old son who studies in a school.
