Derabish ABEO arrested taking Rs 5000 bribe from Asst Teacher

Kendrapada: An assistant block education officer (ABEO) was nabbed performing the same crime in Odisha's Kendrapada district a day after a block education officer (BEO) was arrested in Bargarh district on bribe charges.
The Vigilance prepared a trap after an assistant teacher complained that Bipin Bihari Singh, ABEO of Derabish block, was demanding undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 5,000 to release his held over pay.
The teacher followed the plan and went to the ABEO to give the demanded Rs 5,000 in cash. The Vigilance sleuths caught Singh read-handed while he was accepting the money.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted a raid on Singh's residential house in Poilo, Balia, to assess his disproportionate assets.
In this matter, Cuttack Vigilance has filed a complaint under the PC Act of 1988. More research is being carried out.
On Thursday, vigilance sleuths arrested Ranjit Bhoi, BEO of Jharabandh block in Bargarh, for illegally accepting Rs 5,000 from a headmaster in exchange for the release of pending salaries of his school's teachers.
