Karnataka police picks up fraudster from Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A young man in Odisha's Dhenkanal District was detained by Karnataka police for allegedly duping a Rs 12,5 lakh individual.

The defendant, known as Somnath Rout, is from the hamlet of Dalabhaga, in the district of Cuttack.

He founded the "India Shine Goods and Infra Private Ltd's" bogus enterprises under the names of Deepak Sharma, according to reports.

One Dimmapa Bhatt of the Rs 12.5 lakh was scammed by Somnath. On 5 August the victim submitted a complaint. Following the allegation, authorities from Karnataka began an investigation after a cyber fraud case had been registered and were able to identify its place in Dhenkanal.

Police from Karnataka then took up the culprit, with the aid of local police, from his rented home at Station Bazaar.

Sources have stated that there had been a laptop, four mobiles, an ATM card and funds in the Somnath bank account.
