Bhubaneswar: Shraddha Walker's fate was met by a woman from Odisha's capital, who was stabbed 49 times to death by her purported boyfriend, with whom she had been in a relationship for almost three years.

On December 15, the body of Luni Das was discovered in a pool of blood with several stab wounds near Anjani Industrial Estate in Surat. Jagannath Gouda, the accused, has been apprehended.

When she insisted on marriage, the accused devised a plan to eliminate her, according to police sources. He arrived in Bhubaneswar two weeks ago and joined her on the Puri-Ahmedabad Express bound for Surat. He then brought her to a remote location and stabbed her to death. Gouda was so upset with her that he had her stabled 49 times.

"It was a cold case with no leads. We apprehended the accused after reviewing 500 CCTV images and phone records. We will file the chargesheet in the case as soon as possible. According to preliminary evidence, the accused was high on drugs and quite angry when he committed the crime. "He thought she was mentally torturing him and kept stabbing to guarantee she had no chance of survival," Surat joint police commissioner Sarad Singhal told the reporters.
