Odisha Congress Launches Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra
Bhubaneswar: The Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra was started by the Odisha Congress on Tuesday to honour the country's 75th anniversary of independence and to emphasise the significance the party played in the country's freedom struggle and subsequent history.
According to a senior party official, the Yatra, which will last through August 14, intends to educate the next generation about the sacrifices made by Congress supporters and leaders in order to secure India's independence and to ensure that the country had balanced development.
According to him, each yatra will cover at least 75 kilometres while connecting key locations with 75 notable figures.
After paying floral respects to Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Bhubaneswar, a sizable contingent of party members and officials marched from Janata Maidan under the direction of OPCC President Sarat Pattnayak.
The participants marched while carrying the national tricolour and party flags and shouting patriotic chants through various streets of the state capital. The OPCC President stated, "It is our duty to convey the word about the crucial role performed by Congress in the independence movement."
In accordance with the AICC's directive, Pattnayak stated that the Gaurav Yatra is also being held in each district of the state in an effort to raise awareness of the role Congress played in securing post-independence growth and ensuring the country's freedom.
It is important to educate the younger generation about the sacrifices made by the Congress' workers and leaders, as well as how bravely they opposed the British. The PCC Chief claimed that the party's involvement in creating a modern India was the reason why India today commands respect on a global scale.
Senior party figures took part in the yatra in the state capital, including MLA Suresh Routray, Prasad Harichandan, and Niranjan Patnaik, both previous presidents of the OPCC. "Congress played a key role in the quick and equitable growth of the nation following independence, in addition to setting India free. It made every attempt to ensure the welfare of the socially disadvantaged, according to Harichandan.
