Odisha Court orders Tapaswini to remain in her husband's home

Berhampur: The District and Sessions court in Berhampur, Odisha's Ganjam district, ruled on Tuesday that Tapaswini Dash will reside with her husband, Dr Sumit Sahu, at her in-laws' home in Bramhanagar, until their divorce is finalised. The court ordered Sahu to pay her Rs 17,000 per month to cover her costs.

In its order, the court requested that the pair refrain from casting aspersions on one another. Dash was ordered by the court to provide a receipt for the money she receives for her monthly expenses.

The couple is embroiled in a public divorce battle that has garnered media attention.

Tapaswini petitioned the SDJM court on December 17 to be allowed to stay at her husband's house. On December 20, the court dismissed her petition. She filed a new case in district court, appealing the decision of the SDJM court.

Sumit had also filed an appeal with the district court, challenging an SDJM court decision requiring the pair to live together in a leased residence in an attempt to reconcile.

The District and Sessions court here had deferred its decision until January 4 on December 27.
