Odisha STF arrests inter-state drug peddler from Assam

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police's Special Task Force (STF) arrested an inter-state drug peddler from Guwahati with the assistance of its Assam counterpart.

Salim Ahmmed, a resident of Mantripukri in Imphal, Manipur, was identified as the drug peddler. According to a press release issued on Thursday, he was wanted by the STF in connection with a case under the NDPS Act of 1985.

In the case, 1.335 kg of contraband brown sugar, a car, and other incriminating materials were seized from the possession of some accused people in December 2022, with Ahmmed being the main accused in the racket.

Previously, two accused persons were arrested and forwarded to court, while Ahmmed had been absconding since the incident and was hiding his presence in Guwahati, where an STF team apprehended him.

After appearing in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati, the accused was placed on transit remand. More research is being conducted.
