Balasore: A cobra was killed by a man in Odisha's Balasore district on Wednesday by viciously biting its body, startling wildlife enthusiasts.
Sources claim that the guy, identified as Salim Nayak of Darda village within the jurisdiction of Basta police, was bitten by a snake when he was entering his farm field in the morning. Later, he insisted that it was a cobra.
Salim went looking for the snake instead of going to the hospital for treatment of the dangerous snake bite. He found the cobra, grabbed it in both hands, and began biting at it with all his might, ripping off pieces of muscle. Until the cobra died, he kept doing it.
Later, Salim rode his bicycle to the hamlet while carrying the dead snake, which was wrapped around his neck and was pouring blood. In an effort to get revenge on the poisonous snake, he also told the villagers about the occurrence.
Even though Salim's actions horrified the people, neither the police nor forest officials were notified of the snake's death.
