Man Sentenced To 20 Years For Raping Minor in Berhampur

Berhampur: A court in the Ganjam district of Odisha sentenced a 35-year-old man to 20 years of solitary confinement for raping a 14-year-old girl about three years ago.
Brundaban Naik was found guilty and given a jail sentence by Berhampur POCSO court judge Ganeshwar Pati, who also levied a 30,000 rupee fine against him.
In addition, the court gave the rape victim compensation of Rs 5 lakh, according to special public prosecutor Mohan Singari.
According to the prosecution, on May 13, 2019, Naik sexually attacked the minor after witnessing her taking a bath in a body of water outside of her hamlet.
Based on the medical report and the testimony of 12 witnesses, the court rendered its ruling.
