Berhampur: Authorities started an investigation on Tuesday after a picture of a senior Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) official who was allegedly drinking at his office in the Ganjam district of Odisha went popular on social media.

According to officials, Sandip Kumar Tripathy, assistant manager of RBSK, a significant National Health Mission (NHM) effort, was reportedly observed drinking alcohol in the hospital's office. This prompted the action.

The official was previously charged with frequently mistreating his office's doctors and coworkers. They added that Tripathy was also accused of drinking in the workplace and that a photo of him has since gone viral. Complaints were also filed against Tripathy stating that he used vulgar language to verbally insult colleagues in the workplace.

Dr. Uma Shankar Mishra, the chief district medical officer (CDMO), stated that Ganjam Collector Dibyajyoti Parida has taken the situation seriously and ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

He stated that a formal inquiry was started on Tuesday and that the complainants' and assistant manager's statements had been recorded. He added that after receiving the full investigation report, the right action will be taken.

Tripathy said the image that went viral had been altered and distorted, and he denied ever drinking alcohol at work. The officer declared that he would comply with any orders made following the investigation.
