Bhubaneswar: In Odisha between 2019 and 2022, more than 10,000 rape incidents and 5,000 cases of sexual assault on young girls have so far been reported.

Tushar Kanti Behera, the state's minister of state for home, responded to a question from Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja in the Assembly on Monday by stating that 10,129 rape cases had so far been reported by the state's police between 2019 and 2022.

According to the ministry, there were 2,950 rape incidents in 2019, 2,984 in 2020, 3,327 in 2021, and 868 in 2022.

Additionally, he noted, 5,584 incidences of sexual assault against young girls have been reported across the state during the time.
