Senior photojournalist Ashok Panda passes away, A Chellakumar expresses condolences

Bhubaneswar: Longtime photojournalist Ashok Panda is no more. He died in a car accident this morning on his way to Puri to document the Rath Yatra. He was 52.

AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha A Chellakumar expressed deep grief over the demise.

"Deeply saddened by the news that Shri Ashok Panda veteran photo journalist passed away in a road accident. May his soul rest in peace. My Deepest condolences to his family and friends," he tweeted. 

Panda was reportedly on a motorcycle when the accident at Satasankha on the Bhubaneswar-Puri national highway happened this morning at around 5 o'clock. Despite being transported quickly to the Capital Hospital in this location, physicians pronounced him dead.

In 1996, Panda started working for the Odia daily "Samay." Later, he collaborated with other national media outlets.

His passing has left a void in the State's photojournalism community.

He was also mourned by writers, photojournalists, politicians, and members of social organisations.
