Mayurbhanj: On Wednesday, a Class II pupil returned home with bruises on his back after allegedly getting beaten up by his teacher in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district's Udala block.
According to sources, 6-year-old Shubh Behera caught a dead snake with a stick from a gutter near Kaptipada upper primary school, and after some children protested, a teacher identified as Jayanta Kumar Mallik thrashed him.
Later that night, the minor's family discovered the occurrence when they noticed red markings on his back. They have filed a complaint against the teacher at the police station in Kaptipada.
"When a student complained about Shubh to Jayanta Mallik, he began whipping my son without even trying to figure out what had happened." "When we observed the bruises on my son's back, he told us about the incident," his father, Bharat Chandra Behera, told the media.
Shubh's mother, Mamata Behera, stated that he has been feverish since the incident. "He was in a lot of agony, so we had to rush him to a nearby hospital for medicine," she explained.
