Two Odisha cops picked for President’s Police Medal

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Independence Day, medals have been given to a total of 15 police officers from Odisha.

The Police Medal for Valor has been given to two Odisha police officers. While 11 police officers were given the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, an equal number of state police officers were given the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

The President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service has been given to Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarsi and Superintendent of Police (in-charge), Security Wing (Bhubaneswar), Saroj Kumar Mohapatra.

From Odisha, Commandos Kumar Karmi and Pitabasa Pande received the Police Medal for Valor.

The Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been given to the following members of the Odisha Police:

* Additional Superintendent of Police (Vigilance Cell) Prakash Kumar Naik from Cuttack

*Deputy Superintendent of Police (STF, CID, CB), Sachidananda Rath, Bhubaneswar

* Deputy Superintendent of Police (BPSPA) Guruprasad Shivasankar Nanda, Bhubaneswar

* Banita Majhi, Rourkela's deputy superintendent of police

*N Trinath Dora is a Cuttack sub-inspector of police (CID, CB).

*Mohammed Jahangir is an assistant sub-inspector of police of the Sambalpur Special Squad.

*Havildar Bishnu Kumar Bura, OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda

*Driver, Havildar, and Angul Hrushikesh Barik

* Basanta Kumar Dakua is a Koraput-based assistant armourer (SOG, AET, and RC).

* Anjan Kumar Mohanty, DFSL Sundargarh Constable

* Prasanta Parida, Sepoy, OSAP 3rd Battalion

1,082 police officers from CAPFs and state forces have received awards in total, including 347 Police Medals for Valor, 87 President's Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and 648 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
