About 100 people have been evacuated and several bridges are submerged in Odisha's Malkangiri district.

MALKANGIRI:  Depression-induced heavy rains pounded Malkangiri, leading to the evacuation of 100 residents. The headquarters town was cut off from the rest of the state and neighboring Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Rainwater still covers low-lying bridges on NH-326, disrupting road communication. The bridges at Kangrukonda, MV-90, MV-96, Pangam, and Tarlakota (MV-37) are submerged, leaving many vehicles and commuters stranded.
Interstate communication between Malkangiri and Andhra Pradesh has been severely affected, as multiple sections of NH-326 remain submerged. There is also disruption in communication between Kalimela and Podia due to the flow of floodwaters over the low-lying bridges near Kalimela Kanyashram.
The situation has remained dire for the second consecutive day due to heavy rains in the upper catchments, which have fueled the rivers, including Saveri, and are threatening floods if the rains persist. In Bonda Hill, landslides from the Mankadjhola waterfall at Mudulipada temporarily blocked the road. Road communication was later restored after the debris was cleared.
The situation in Malkangiri town was precarious as floodwaters entered homes in ward no. 7. Collector Sachin Pawar stated that the district administration had evacuated at least 100 people from the low-lying riverbank of Balisagar in Malkangiri town. He mentioned that the residents have been relocated to a government shelter and are being provided with cooked food.
