"Raise Rath Yatra mismanagement and assault on ASO in the Assembly," Naveen Patnaik instructs BJD MLAs.

BHUBANESWAR: The upcoming budget session of the Assembly, starting on Monday, is expected to be tumultuous as the opposition BJD aims to confront the state government on various issues. These include allegations of mismanagement during the Rath Yatra, the failure to arrest Governor Raghubar Das’ son for assaulting a Raj Bhavan staff, and the communal riots in Balasore. This budget session will be the first complete session of the Assembly since the BJP came to power in the state.

A rise in the prices of essential commodities and other issues affecting the common and poor people of the state will be raised by the BJD during the session. The party's strategy for the 27-day session was discussed at the BJD Legislature Party meeting, chaired by the leader of the Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, at Sankha Bhawan.

Naveen addressed the meeting and instructed the MLAs to raise concerns about the mismanagement in Rath Yatra, the assault on an assistant section officer by the Governor’s son, and the unprecedented increase in the prices of essential commodities during the session. He emphasized that the people of the state have entrusted new responsibilities to the BJD, and the party should now confidently fight to protect the interests of the people.

Naveen urged the MLAs to remind the state government of the BJP's promise in their manifesto about the "Muft Bijli Yojana," which involves providing solar panels to both urban and rural households. He also asked them to oppose the government's frequent renaming of schemes.

Additionally, the leader of the Opposition also instructed the MLAs to closely monitor the functioning of government departments according to their assigned responsibilities. Government departments were distributed among the 50 BJD MLAs for the purpose of intervening and raising pertinent issues in the Assembly.

Naveen emphasized the importance of 100% attendance in the Assembly now that the BJD is in opposition. He also announced that first-time MLAs in the party will receive training to enhance their participation in the House proceedings.
