The Supreme Court on Friday stayed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's conviction in the 2019 criminal defamation case over his "why all thieves have Modi surname" remark, restoring his status as a member of Parliament.

Cuttack: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's conviction in the 2019 criminal defamation case over his "why all thieves have Modi surname" remark, restoring his status as a member of Parliament.

Today, under the leadership of President of Cuttack District Congress Committee, Manas Ranjan Choudhury, hundreds of workers distributed sweets and chocolates to the pedestrians at the Badambadi traffic intersection in Cuttack. They expressed their gratitude to the Honorable Supreme Court Bench. 

It is worth mentioning that on March 23, Gujarat Surat Court found Rahul guilty in the Modi Defamation case. For this, the court sentenced Rahul to 2 years in jail. Now the country's highest court has imposed a stay on this sentence.
In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, "Come what may, my duty remains the same."
