One Killed, 7 Injured As Molten Iron Falls On Workers At Steel Plant In Jajpur

Jajpur: A worker was killed and six others were injured when molten metal allegedly fell on them at a private sponge iron plant in Odisha's Jajpur district's Kalinganagar industrial area.
According to sources, the molten metal was being moved with a crane at Maithan Ispat Limited on Thursday night when it landed on some contractual workers who were working.
While one worker was said to have died on the spot from burns, six others were critically injured in the mishsp.
Senior plant officials were not immediately available for comment.
Nitin Kumar of Uttar Pradesh was identified as the deceased. The injured have been taken to Cuttack's SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
They are all described as contractual workers hired by another company to work in the plant.
Following the mishap, there was a lot of tension in and around the plant. The police have taken the necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents. The incident is currently being investigated. More information is awaited.
