On Friday, vigilance agents apprehended Nrusingha Charan Rout, Revenue Inspector of Goda in the Ersama tehsil of Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.

Bhubaneswar: On Friday, vigilance agents apprehended Nrusingha Charan Rout, Revenue Inspector of Goda in the Ersama tehsil of Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
According to sources, he demanded illegal gratification in order to submit an investigation report in a mutation case in favor of the complainant. His entire bribe money was recovered.
Following the trap, searches are being conducted simultaneously at two locations associated with Rout to determine whether he accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to the sources, a case has been registered against him at the Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevent of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.
