Bhubaneswar: Preparations for smooth conduct of surveys are underway. Instead of stand level, a central counting mechanism will be available for the subsequent elections to be held at block offices. Strong chambers are installed at the stand level and the number of ballots boxes is increased, if necessary.

State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhy on Friday stated that, given that the electoral list was last amended in January 2021, collectors had been instructed to provide a report on wards and reservations of seats in their respectively districts by 26 October.

"Collectors were asked to designate the voting centres by 5 November at the headquarters of the block and to keep them ready. Previously, by 25 October, the polling officials were requested to appoint and finish the procedure."

In regions without enough infrastructure, the temporary polling station would be established, stated the official.

The Commissioner also instructed the collectors to repair and paint voting boxes for the elections. The districts have a total of Rs 1.16 crore to be punished and the collectors are invited to finish the district before 15 November.
