At Infovalley in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation for two state-of-the-art cancer treatment institutions. Bagchi-Sri Shankar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre and Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre are two of them.

Subrato Bagchi, Chairman of the Odisha Skill Development Authority, and his wife Sushmita Bagchi have donated Rs 340 crore to these two international cancer-care centres.

The 750-bed cancer hospital will be operated by Sri Shankar Institution, while the palliative care centre will be run by a Bengaluru-based hospice foundation. The palliative care unit will feature 110 beds and will be open to the public at no cost.

Both projects would help Bhubaneswar become a national leader in cancer care and palliative services by providing world-class cancer and palliative care facilities.
