The deceased woman, a resident of Puri's Brahmagiri area, was reportedly employed by a mobile phone company.
According to sources, the woman arrived in Bhubaneswar with her colleague for office-related business and both checked into the hotel. They were staying in a hotel room in the Master Canteen area.
Her body was discovered hanging inside the room this morning, while her colleague was reported missing and was to be traced, they said.
After being notified, a police team went to the hotel and recovered the body, which was then taken to the Capital Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
While the deceased's family claimed she was murdered, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The hotel's CCTV footage is being examined as part of the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
