Criminal Gang arrested for illegal firearms possession in Cuttack
On Wednesday, police arrested five members of a hardcore criminal gang involved in the illegal arms trade and seized several weapons from them in Odisha's Cuttack city.
Cuttack: On Wednesday, police arrested five members of a hardcore criminal gang involved in the illegal arms trade and seized several weapons from them in Odisha's Cuttack city.
The five were apprehended after police launched a special operation. Three 9 mm pistols, a 7.65 mm pistol, one 8 mm country-made pistol, and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition were seized from the arrested individuals, according to Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra.
Aside from that, the police seized a four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, and six mobile phones from the arrested.
Bapi Jena alias Kalia of Madhupatna, Durga Das Nanda of Jagatsinghpur, Muhammad Rahim, Sheikh Washim, and Asiq Samal have been identified as those arrested.
According to him, all five are habitual offenders who have been booked in several cases of crime at various police stations in Cuttack and surrounding areas.
According to reports, Muhammad Rahim and Sheikh Washim have ties to the Dhalasamanta brothers' gang.
The DCP stated that the movements of feared criminals and those involved in illegal arms trade in Cuttack and surrounding areas are being closely monitored.
