Berhampur: Deepika has been making headlines for staging a 'dharna' in front of her boyfriend's house at Desi Behera Sahi in the Bada Bazaar area of Odisha's Berhampur since last year.

According to the report, Dinesh is Deepika's son biological father.

Deepak Pattanayak, her lawyer, told the media that the DNA report validated Deepika's claim. "The Supreme Court's ruling clearly states that a child born from a live-in relationship is not considered illegitimate, and thus Dinesh must pay for his upkeep." The JMFC court previously denied our petition, and we have appealed to the Orissa High Court," he said.

The Supreme Court ruled in Vidyadhari v. Sukhrana Bai that children born from a live-in relationship should be considered "legal heirs" and entitled to inherit the property of both parents under Section 16 of the Hindu Marriage Act.

Deepika, on the other hand, claimed that Dinesh's family has been attempting to conceal the entire situation. "I want my case to be tried and justice delivered to my child," she said.

Notably, Deepika began her sit-in protest with her baby boy in August of last year after learning of Dinesh's plans to marry another woman. For 70 days, she held a dharna demanding acceptance as Dinesh's wife. She resumed her protest on August 8 at the same location. She claimed two days later that Dinesh's mother and grandmother threw chili powder and water at her. She then filed a complaint with the Berhampur City SP, seeking justice. The duo was then served with a notice.

Speaking about the development, the SP then stated that a copy of the DNA report would be given to Deepika because she had requested it.
