Keonjhar: A former sarpanch and her husband were allegedly murdered at a village in Odisha's Keonjhar district's Hatadihi region.
The event was reported from Mayurnacha hamlet in the district's Hatadihi block. Rambha Patra, a former sarpanch of K Baliapal panchayat, and her husband Niranjan Patra, a 'Gram Rakhi' at the local police outpost, were identified as the victims.
According to early evidence, unidentified miscreants allegedly broke into their home late Wednesday night, murdered the couple, and deposited their remains in a well near their home.
After receiving information, a team of police officers went to the scene and recovered the bodies, which were then submitted for autopsies. The police have filed a report and begun an investigation into the occurrence.
While the actual reason for the crime has yet to be determined, it is believed that the couple was murdered because of a previous feud. More information is awaited.
