Deepak Munda and Bapi Majh were fired, and they left the area shortly after, according to Dudhiani Forest Range Officer Pradeep Prusty on Sunday.
According to sources, the duo, along with a group of villagers, threw fireballs at an elephant herd in Dumurdiha village, which falls under the division's Dudhiani range. On July 27, Karanjia Divisional Forest Officer Srikant Naik ordered an investigation into the incident after a video went viral showing one fireball hitting an elephant and spreading to its body, burning the hair and skin.
He had threatened the person responsible for engaging in such illegal activities with severe punishment.
