In the early hours of Wednesday, a leopard was killed by a speeding vehicle near Mujagada village in Odisha's Ganjam district's North Ghumasara forest range.

Berhampur: In the early hours of Wednesday, a leopard was killed by a speeding vehicle near Mujagada village in Odisha's Ganjam district's North Ghumasara forest range.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. on the Bhajanagar-Phulbani road, and some locals initially noticed the animal writhing in pain. A home guard arrived first and attempted to resuscitate the animal. Soon after, Forest Department officials and a team of Bhanjanagar police officers arrived and provided first aid. According to sources, the leopard, who was between the ages of four and five, died while being transported to the Bhanjanagar veterinary hospital.

The Forest Department has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the leopard's death and the vehicle involved.
