Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, the decomposed body of a young girl was discovered in a forest area in Odisha's Ganjam district under mysterious circumstances.

According to reports, some locals who had gone to the forest to collect firewood discovered the body in a spring near Kalyan Mandap at Taptapani in the district's Pattapur police station.

After being notified, a police team and a scientific team went to the scene and began an investigation. They discovered a massive stone on the girl's body. Her slippers and phone were also discovered near the body. The body was seized by police and taken to a morgue for examination. They also took her belongings and the stone for testing in a laboratory.

Sangita Pradhan, the daughter of Narayan Pradhan of Kudamari village in Pattapur police station, has been identified as the girl.

Sangita was in a relationship with a youth from Sindupur village, according to Narayan, who spoke to the media. His younger daughter is married to a Sindupur man.
Naryan suspected the adolescent of murdering his daughter. "Sangita had been missing from the house for several days. We were looking for her. We later discovered that she had taken some gold ornaments and Rs 22,000 with her when she left the house."

"We learned about her relationship with Sindupur's youth from villagers who saw them together at a nearby bus station. "He must have persuaded Sangita to elope with her and persuaded her to take the ornaments and cash from our house," Narayan claimed.

The police, who have launched an investigation to find the youth, stated that the cause of Sangita's death would be known once the post-mortem report was received.
