Bhitarkanika reopens for tourist after several months

Kendrapada: On Thursday, the Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapada district reopened to visitors after a three-month hiatus.

Following the onset of the second wave of COVID-19 on May 1, the park was closed.

After the government announced unlock instructions for August, the Forest Department opted to reopen the national park.

The park, however, would only be open to tourists during the day, and overnight stops will be restricted.

The tourists will enter the park after undergoing thermal screening. According to sources, they can enter the park as long as they follow all COVID standards.

In accordance with COVID rules, the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar reopened to tourists on August 3.

Due to the current pandemic situation, only a restricted number of visitors will be permitted to enter the zoo each day after passing through thermal screening at the entry, according to Zoo Director Manoj Mohapatra.
