On Wednesday morning, police recovered two bodies from a house in Dumapada village, Talsara police limits, Sundargarh district, Odisha.
Hemant Dandasena and Rashmi of Damakuda village, Talsara police limits, have been identified as the deceased couple.
Hemant allegedly hanged himself last night after smothering Rashmi with a pillow during a family feud. After receiving information from local residents this morning, police rushed to the scene. They broke down the door and discovered the woman dead on the floor, her husband hanging from the roof.
According to sources, the couple married last year. Rashmi stayed with her in-laws while Hemant went to Goa to work as a contract laborer. They began living separately after he returned during Holi. Trouble soon erupted between the two, and Hemant, distraught by the conflict, took the extreme step.
The bodies have been seized by police for postmortem examination, and an investigation is ongoing.
