On Wednesday, three Class VI students were killed and another was critically injured after being hit by a speeding car near Saradhapalli chhak on the Sonepur-Binika road in Odisha.

Sonepur: On Wednesday, three Class VI students were killed and another was critically injured after being hit by a speeding car near Saradhapalli chhak on the Sonepur-Binika road in Odisha.

Subrat Bhoi (11), Rajesh Pera (10) and Raja Pera (10), all students at Saradhapalli Upper Primary School, were killed.

According to sources, the four students were standing near the educational institution's gate when a speeding car slammed into the boundary wall and ran them over. The accident happened around 11 a.m.

One of the students died on the spot. One of the critically injured died at the Sonepur district headquarters hospital, and the third died while being transferred to VIMSAR, Burla.

The injured person, identified as Kapil Bhue (13), is still being treated. A senior administration official went to the hospital to see how the injured were doing.

Meanwhile, tensions rose in the area as residents flocked to the scene and detained the driver. They also blocked the Sonepur-Binika road, demanding harsh punishment for the perpetrators and restitution for the victims' families.

Police arrived quickly, seized the vehicle, and arrested the driver. More research is being conducted.
