Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has been on a business trip to Japan since April 4, presided over the first-of-its-kind digital cabinet meeting from Kyoto.

His cabinet colleagues participated in the special meeting remotely.

During the meeting, files were processed and documents were signed entirely digitally via the Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN). "The cabinet ministers discussed the decisions thoroughly before giving their approval digitally, leveraging this unique platform," according to an official release.

According to the CM, technology has enabled governance to be delivered on the fly. "As part of our 5T charter, we have been a pioneer in leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve the effectiveness of governance systems and the delivery of public services." Technology has aided in the transformation of the delivery of good governance and public goods and services."

This digital cabinet has pushed the boundaries of technology and governance speed, he says.

OSWAN is the state's critical information technology backbone, capable of carrying data, video, and voice traffic, as well as facilitating inter/intra-departmental communication and data sharing. According to the sources, the innovative platform allows government officials to collaborate on documents, share feedback, and track changes in real-time, making it easier to collaborate on projects and initiatives.
