Police Officer Caught Taking Rs 8K Bribe In Angul

Berhampur: On Wednesday, Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended Nabin Kumar Satapathy, ASI of Kiakata police station in Angul district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.
According to sources, the ASI demanded Rs 10,000 in illegal gratification from the complainant. He had collected Rs 2,000 a few days before and was apprehended while receiving the remaining bribe.
Following the trap, three locations linked to Satapathy are being searched simultaneously to determine whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to the sources, a case has also been registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway.
