Sambalpur: On Tuesday night, the driver of a mini truck was charred to death after colliding head-on with a coal-laden truck at Bada Kundesara under Jamankira police limits in Odisha's Sambalpur district.

Ramji of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been identified as the deceased. The driver of the mini truck was seriously injured and was taken to the district headquarters hospital in Sambalpur.

According to sources, after the collision, a fire broke out in the engine of the mini truck carrying pan masala, and the driver was burned alive inside the vehicle. The coal-laden truck, en route from Deogarh to Sambalpur, was also nearly consumed by fire. After the accident, its driver fled the scene.

After being notified, police and fire personnel arrived and extinguished the flames. According to the sources, an investigation into the accident is underway.
