Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, a police inspector suffered critical bullet wounds to the head and neck in an alleged accidental shooting at the SP office in Odisha's Koraput district.
Narendra Biswal, a deputy subedar, has been identified as the victim.
The incident occurred around 11.30 a.m., according to sources. Biswal was rushed to the district headquarters hospital after suffering severe injuries to the left side of his face. As his condition worsened, an ambulance was dispatched and he was transferred to Visakhapatnam.
Police are still investigating whether it was an accident or a suicide attempt by the victim.
